“The Balinese community of Western Australia first started around 2003 … Formally, our community was built on the sixteenth of March 2004 as a non-profit organisation. The community currently has approximately 180 members living in Western Australia.”

What began as a small group of Balinese residents in Perth has grown into a vibrant, supportive community dedicated to maintaining, preserving and protecting Balinese culture and Hindu Dharma — while opening its doors to the wider Western Australian public.
Together, we build a future where the Balinese Community in Western Australia flourishes, creating opportunities, celebrating cultures, and making lasting contributions.

To strengthen the common Balinese culture among its members and interested members of the public.

To plan and organise the periodic staging of cultural events in accordance with the annual Balinese calendar.

To plan and celebrate such other events in accordance with the decision of its members at periodic meetings of the Association.

“One of the central concepts that encapsulates the essence of Balinese life is the Tri Hita Karana. This philosophy emphasises the importance of harmony and balance in three fundamental connections: human connections with other humans, humans with nature, and humans with the creator.”

Monthly Ceremonies
Bali, also known as the island of the gods, is an island full of culture and traditions. The Balinese honour every aspect of life through numerous ceremonies — the full moon or Purnama, Saraswati, Pagerwesi and other Balinese Hindu ceremonies.
Signature celebration
Galungan & Kuningan
A celebration of good vs evil. Galungan and Kuningan take place over a 10-day period, where the ancestors are believed to visit their families on the island. Join us for a beautiful celebration and tuck into some seriously tasty Balinese dishes.
Learn & perform
Dance Lessons
Step beyond the ordinary and learn the art of Balinese traditional dance. Rooted in tradition, each dance is a narrative in motion, expressing the essence of Balinese culture.
The signature celebration
Galungan & Kuningan
Galungan — the celebration of dharma’s victory over adharma. A celebration of good vs evil. Galungan and Kuningan take place over a 10-day period, where the ancestors are believed to visit their families on the island. Join us for a beautiful celebration and tuck into some seriously tasty Balinese dishes.
In the days before the festival, streets in Bali — and our hall in Perth — fill with penjor: tall bamboo poles that bow gracefully over the road, each one a gesture of gratitude.
